OVERVIEW:
America is deeply divided. Tensions exist within and between many of our communities, and we are finding it increasingly harder to listen to those on the other side of the aisle – whether that aisle is political, racial, economic, or religious. The American Pilgrimage explores how the seeds of our division were sown at the noble yet contradictory beginning of our American story.

We begin our journey in New Orleans with the experiences of enslaved peoples and move to Jackson, Selma, and Montgomery engaging the stories of the civil rights. Movement. And the lingering issues of our present day. We’ll meet with a diverse set of people, hear their stories, examine the past as a means to understanding the present, celebrate the local culture and cuisine, and learn about how to respond as peacemakers.
